Beijing - An aftershock measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted eastern Honshu, Japan on Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Network Center.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10km, was monitored at 35.3 degrees north latitude and 138.5 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
This as the country reels from the after-effects of Friday's 9.0 magnitude quake and tsunami.
The country has also been grappling with a potential nuclear catastrophe at its quake-stricken Fukushima power plant.
The tremor struck shortly after 3:30pm South African time.
