President sends condolences to China

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has, on behalf of the government and South African citizens, conveyed condolences to China,  following a deadly explosion in Tianjin, on Wednesday.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) on Friday said the incident, which occurred at a dockside warehouse in the coastal city of Tianjin, in south Beijing, claimed at least 50 lives with approximately 700 people hospitalised.

“Our thoughts are with the people of China in the aftermath of the explosion that has struck the city of Tianjin.

“On behalf of the Government and people of South Africa, I send my deepest condolences to the Government of China, and to everyone affected, particularly to the families and friends of those killed and injured,” said President Zuma. - SAnews.gov.za
