SASSA revises November grant payment dates ahead of elections

Thursday, October 29, 2026

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has revised its November 2026 social grant payment schedule, with older persons set to receive their grants from Friday, 30 October, ahead of the Local Government Elections on 4 November.

Under the revised schedule, SASSA will pay disability grants on Monday, 2 November, and the child grant on Tuesday, 3 November.

Thursday, 5 November, is set aside specifically for beneficiaries, whose grants fall within the review process.

In a statement, SASSA said the revised payment dates followed consultations with various stakeholders to ensure that grant payments continue to be administered efficiently and securely during the election period.

National Treasury approved the revised schedule, paving the way for its implementation.

“[SASSA] remains committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner,” SASSA said.

The agency has urged beneficiaries, whose grants are under review, to respond to official communication and attend review appointments when requested.

It has also cautioned beneficiaries against rushing to SASSA offices unnecessarily, emphasising that payments will be processed according to the announced schedule.

Beneficiaries have been encouraged to use SASSA’s official communication channels for accurate information and to guard against misinformation and disinformation about social grants.

SASSA said the revised arrangements are aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the social assistance system, while ensuring continued access to grants for millions of South Africans who depend on the support. – SAnews.gov.za
