KZN to take stock of HIV, AIDS interventions

Durban - The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health is to host a comprehensive HIV and AIDS Care Management and Treatment (CCMT) Summit this week.

The aim of this historical summit it to take stock of HIV and AIDS programmes in the province as well as chart a way forward on how to improve the delivery of HIV and related disease programmes, such as Tuberculosis (TB).

The three-day summit will be hosted under the theme "Scaling up Universal Access".

According to the department, the summit will take stock of the inroads made in the implementation of the CCMT programmes, share best practices in the CCMT programmes, explore challenges and seek new ways of expanding access to the programme.

Stakeholders, including healthcare workers, academia and non-governmental organisations, will also receive an update on the strategic directions and on the goals of HIV and AIDS National Strategic Plan.

There will be 18 renowned speakers who will be presenting on various aspects of the CCMT programme during the summit.
