Thaba Nchu - In an effort to boost the number of qualified health professions in the Free State, Premier Ace Magashule announced that more nursing schools will open.

This comes after Magashule and provincial Health MEC Sisi Mabe recently reopened Dr JS Moroka Hospital Nursing School in Thaba Nchu.

Magashule appealed to men to also take an interest in nursing as it was not only a profession for women but rather an opportunity for both genders.

The MEC said the Dr JS Moroka Hospital Nursing School will accommodate 40 students from across the province. She said 13 of the students were from Thaba Nchu itself while the rest of the students were from neighbouring towns including Virginia and Botshabelo. Mabe also handed over certificates to five EMS officials at the handing over ceremony.

Two ambulances, one rescue vehicle and an official car were donated by the department.

The MEC expressed pride in the province's ability to reopen such an institution and award opportunities to its residents.
