Pretoria - In an effort to improve infection control measures, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital has received 11 Scrub Zone machines to be used for effective hand sanitization.

The machines ensure sterile hand washing through a combination of anti-bacteria soap, water, ultra-violet light and a specially designed bristle brush and dryer.

The national Department of Health adopted a 10-Point Plan for 2009-2014, with quality of health care services included among the priorities.

Quality of healthcare puts more focus on the safety and security of patients, infection control, cleanliness of hospitals and the number of hours people queue in hospitals.
