Petrol to increase by 16 cents per litre

Pretoria - The price of all grades of petrol will increase by 16 cents per litre at midnight next Wednesday, the Department of Minerals and Energy announced on Friday.

The petrol price has increase by R1.45 per litre since January. Last month the petrol increased by 3 cents per litre.

The wholesale price of Diesel, 0.05 percent sulphur, will decrease by 12.9 cents per litre while the wholesale price of Diesel, 00.05 percent sulphur, will decrease by 13.9 cents per litre, said the department.

The price illuminating Paraffin will decrease by 9 cents a litre and illuminating paraffin at the Single Maximum National Retail price will decrease by 12 cents a litre.

During the period under review, between 30 April and 29 May, the international price of Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased and the average Rand to the US Dollar exchange rate strengthened when compared to the previous period.
