GDP up 3.2 percent

Pretoria - South Africa's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the fourth quarter of 2009 grew by 3.2 percent, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) announced on Tuesday.

"The seasonally adjusted real GDP at market prices for the fourth quarter of 2009 increased by an annualised rate of 3.2 percent compared with the third quarter of 2009," said Stats SA.

In the third quarter the economy grew by 0.9 percent signaling that South Africa was technically out of its first recession in 17 years.
