Tough challenge for Banyana

Pretoria - Banyana Banyana will face their toughest challenge yet in the 2010 CAF African Women Championship when they lock horns against African powerhouse, Nigeria tomorrow.

The host nation got off to a good start last Sunday when they walloped Tanzania 2-1, while the West African girls hammered Mali 5-nil in their tournament opening match.

Banyana will face the number one ranked African powerhouse Nigeria on the continent at 11am at Sinaba stadium in Daveyton, tomorrow. Currently, the West African girls are leading Group A with three points and five goals, while South Africa is sitting in the second spot.

Equatorial Guinea is the defending champions since they won the 2008 CAF Women's Championship. However, on Tuesday, there were forced to a 2-2 all draw by Cameroon.

The Nigerians have in the past won the tournament in 1998, 2000, 2002 2004 and 2006.

The two African Women's Championship finalists will represent Africa at the 2011 Fifa Women's World Cup in Germany.
