Pretoria - The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is inviting songwriters to come up with a unique song that will be sung for the national team, the Super Eagles, during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

NFF general secretary, Dr Bolaji Ojo-Oba said: "This is a song that will be put together to be sung specifically for the Super Eagles at the World Cup finals in South Africa."

"We call for entries from Nigerians, musicians and others who feel they have the ability, to submit a unique, moving song that can gear the team wonderfully either on or off the pitch in South Africa."

Ojo-Oba said they know that Super Eagles supporters usually sing lovely songs at major tournaments like the World Cup, but what the NFF desires is for something very special.

The winning song will be unveiled at a launch that will be witnessed by major players in the game, including top officials of the Presidential Task Force, National Sports Commission, NFF and its sponsors in a date yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the NFF is expected to appoint the new head coach of the Super Eagles before the end of this month.

This comes after they fired head coach Shaibu Amodu a week ago following the team's poor performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola last month.

The Super Eagles are pooled in Group B of the FIFA World Cup alongside Argentina, Greece and Korea Republic.
