Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has arrived in Luanda, Angola, ahead of his meeting with his counterpart President Jose Eduardo dos Santos.
The meeting will take place today at the Presidential Palace. The two leaders are expected to discuss matters relating to promoting bilateral relations as well as peace and security on the continent.
The visit comes after President Zuma wrapped his working visit to the Republic of Guinea, where he affirmed South Africa’s commitment to help that country as it fights to end the spread of Ebola.
International news outlets say the death toll from the Ebola epidemic has reached 8 371 out of an estimated 21 171 known cases of people infected in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea alone, according to the latest figures from the World Health Organisation.
However, the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has expressed optimism that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa can be brought under control. – SAnews.gov.za
