Nkoana-Mashabane attends AU meeting

Pretoria - International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the African Union (AU) Ministerial Executive Council which kicks off today.

Nkoana-Mashabane arrived in Ethiopia on Wednesday as part of the preparations for the 14th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments.

Since arriving in that country the minister has held discussions with her counterparts from the Southern African Development Community to reaffirm their commitment to a common position and strategic approach. The council of ministers gathering will end on Friday.

On the sidelines of the meeting, she will chair the Committees on Post-Conflict Development in Africa and the nomination of the chairship of the AU.

The minister will also hold bilateral meetings with several of her counterparts, including Foreign Affairs Minister of Ethiopia.

Nkoana-Mashabane will receive President Jacob Zuma on Friday when he arrives for the 14th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments that will end on Wednesday.
