Pretoria - Two suspects are expected to appear in the Phalaborwa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, for allegedly being involved in the transportation of stolen vehicles across the border and smuggling rhino horns and explosives.

The two were arrested following a high level investigation of a syndicate suspected of operating in the Kruger National Park.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the two suspects, aged 36 and 39, were arrested this morning while driving inside the park in two stolen vehicles.

“A large sum of money was seized during the search of the suspects’ stolen vehicles. Further investigations have linked the two suspects to other serious crimes in Mpumalanga and the Eastern Cape,” Mulaudzi said.

Both suspects are out on bail for some of the other crimes. Mulaudzi said investigations continue. - SAnews.gov.za
