Pretoria – A 28-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with an illegal drug laboratory in Sandhurst, Sandton.
The Hawks discovered a house in Cleveland Street on Thursday night after a tip-off was received that there were suspicious activities going on.
During the raid, two suspects jumped over the high wall in an attempt to flee the scene.
One was arrested while the other managed to escape. The Hawks are following strong leads to have him and others behind bars.
Thousands of Mandrax tablets, methaqualone, pressing machine, and liquid as well as powder chemicals were found inside the house and a cottage. The value of the drugs is estimated to be worth over R20 million.
The arrested suspect will appear before the Wynburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday. – SAnews.gov.za
