SA to host Extra-Ordinary SADC Summit

Pretoria – President Jacob Zuma, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, will on Friday host a SADC meeting on Lesotho.

President Zuma will host the Heads of State of the SADC Double Troika for an Extra-ordinary Summit of the Double Troika, set to take place in Pretoria.

Deputy President and SADC Facilitator to Lesotho, Cyril Ramaphosa, returned from Lesotho after being dispatched there by President Zuma on Friday.

He was urgently sent to the Kingdom to assess the recent political and security developments there.

During his visit, Deputy President Ramaphosa met with King Letsie III as well as interacted with Prime Minister Phakalitha Mosisili and his government coalition partners.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa as well as the SADC Ministerial Organ Troika Fact-finding Mission will present reports to the SADC Double Troika Summit.

The Double Troika is made up of Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Malawi and Lesotho.

The Summit of Heads of States will be preceded by a Double Troika Ministerial and Senior officials’ meeting. – SAnews.gov.za
