Pretoria - South Africans are still reeling in shock following the killing of Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana skipper Senzo Meyiwa, 27, at Zamo Section in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg, at about 8pm on Sunday.

Police have offered a R150 000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of Meyiwa’s killers.

The South African Police Service tweeted: “There were 7 people inside the house. Two suspects went into the house, one remained outside. The 3 fled on foot after the shooting.”

Meyiwa’s club, Orlando Pirates, which issued a statement shortly before midnight, will hold a press conference this morning.

Orlando Pirates chairperson Dr Irvin Khoza said: “The Orlando Pirates Football Club family has learned with sadness about the untimely death of our number one goalkeeper and current captain Senzo Meyiwa.

"This is a sad loss whichever way you look at it - to Senzo's family, his extended family, Orlando Pirates and to the nation.

“This statement is being issued whilst Orlando Pirates officials are up and about dealing with matters that arise when such untimely and unsettling news is received.” - SAnews.gov.za
