President Zuma wishes Chief Justice Moseneke well

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has extended good wishes to the retired Constitutional Court Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke.

The Constitutional Court held a special sitting to bid farewell to the former Deputy Chief Justice, on Friday.

“President Zuma joins all stakeholders in paying tribute to the former Deputy Chief Justice, who is a highly regarded jurist and a respected veteran of the liberation struggle in the country,” said the Presidency.

Chief Justice Moseneke rose from difficult circumstances as the youngest prisoner on Robben Island and became Deputy President of the Pan-Africanist Congress, an astute businessman and pioneer of black economic empowerment.

“We thank Deputy Chief Justice Moseneke for his invaluable service to the judiciary and the country,” said President Zuma.

Justice Baaitse “Bess” Nkabinde has been appointed by the President to act as Deputy Chief Justice until the position is filled.

The President has wished Nkabinde all the best in this new role. - SAnews.gov.za
