President Zuma meets NPA boss

Friday, September 5, 2014

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has again held a meeting with the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), Mxolisi Nxasana.

The meeting, which was held on Thursday, according to the Presidency, further discussed the matters relating to the recent announcement by the President of the intention to hold an inquiry into the NDPP’s fitness to hold office.

Nxasana was appointed into the position in October 2013. His fitness to hold office came under the spotlight after it emerged he did not have the required security clearance for the post.

He was acquitted on murder charges when he was 18-years-old.

Last month, the President wrote to Nxasana informing him that the details of the inquiry into his fitness to hold office were being finalised and they will be communicated to him in due course.

Nxasana then filed an urgent application at the North Gauteng High Court seeking an interdict to prevent President Zuma from suspending him before he had been provided with more details of the allegations against him.

The case was postponed by the court following talks between the two parties.
