Petrol price to go up by 88 cents

Pretoria - The price of petrol will rise by 88 cents a litre on Wednesday, said the Department of Energy.

In Gauteng, a litre of 95 ULP and LRP will increase by 88 cents, while that of 93 ULP and LRP will increase by 86 cents.

Diesel (0.05%) wholesale will rise by 95.70 cents, while that of diesel (0.005%) wholesale will increase by 97.70 cents a litre.

The price of IP wholesale will increase by 57.60 cents a litre and the cost of single maximum national retail price (SMNRP) will go up by 76 cents a litre countrywide, while the maximum retail price of liquid petroleum gas (LPGas) will increase by 110 cents per kilogram.

According to the department, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased during the period under review.

“The Minister of Finance in his Budget Speech on 24 February 2016 announced that the fuel levy on petrol and diesel will increase by 30 cents a litre with effect from 6 April 2016,” said the department. – SAnews.gov.za
