No load shedding planned: Eskom

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Pretoria - Power utility Eskom said there is currently no planned load shedding as it has enough generating capacity to meet the electricity demand.

However, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period between 5pm - 9pm, mainly due to increased electricity demand and generating units being out of service due to maintenance, said the power utility on Wednesday.

The power utility urged all customers to continue using electricity sparingly at all times to enable technicians to carry out the requisite maintenance on power generating units.

Commercial customers, particularly shopping centres and office blocks, can also make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours.-SAnews.gov.za
