Government to engage communities next week

Friday, November 27, 2015

Pretoria - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi is expected to officially open the National Imbizo Focus Week in Lephalale, Limpopo, on Monday.

The National Imbizo Focus Week creates an engaging and interactive information sharing platform between government and communities.

During the Imbizo, Minister Muthambi will use the opportunity to interact with beneficiaries of government’s employment creation programmes such as the solar energy farm in Lephalale.

The Minister will also provide key details on the status of the Broadcasting Digital Migration project thus far.

“This is an important occasion for us in government; it is an opportunity for us to provide progress report on key projects that are aimed at boosting economic growth and creating jobs,” Minister Muthambi said ahead of the event.

The Department of Communications’ entities - including the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), the Film and Publication Board, Brand SA and the Media Diversity Development Agency - are also expected to attend the event where they will inform the Lephalale community about the services they offer.

The day’s programme will include a visit to Ga Seleka tribal office, door-to-door visits and visiting projects at Tom Burte, Ga Seleka.

The day will end with a Community Imbizo at Ga Seleka community hall.

Various other Imbizo Focus Week events are planned through the week across the country. – SAnews.gov.za
