Free State remembers Madiba

Monday, December 5, 2016

Pretoria - Today marks the third year since the passing of Tata Nelson Mandela, the first president of a democratic South Africa.

The Free State provincial government remembers Tata Mandela, whose commitment to the struggle is best referenced during the days when he received military training, played a role in a military struggle against the repressive Apartheid regime, as well as when he, and many other freedom fighters, was imprisoned for the attainment of the country’s freedom.

Tata Mandela, a selfless, dedicated and brave freedom fighter, will be remembered for his ability to unite people from different communities.

“On this occasion of Tata Mandela’s third year after his passing, we reaffirm our commitment to the struggle for radical socio-economic transformation.

“We reaffirm our commitment to the transfer of wealth to the previously disadvantaged communities. We also reaffirm our commitment towards racial equality. May the soul of Tata Mandela continue to rest in peace,” said Free State Premier Ace Magashule. – SAnews.gov.za
