Education roleplayers to meet with Remuneration Review Commission

Pretoria – Stakeholders in the education sector have been invited to meet with the Presidential Remuneration Review Commission, according to the Presidency.

The meeting with stakeholders, including student associations, governing body associations, unions and principals is aimed at introducing the commission and its methodology of executing its mandate.

The meeting is expected to take place on 11 March in Gauteng, said the Presidency.

In the 2013 State of the Nation Address, President Jacob Zuma announced that he would establish a commission to look into the remuneration of the salaries of public servants in particular teachers.

The Presidential Remuneration Review Commission was formally established in August 2013, to review the remuneration policy framework of the public service with an aim to align it with effectiveness, efficiency and service delivery improvement. 

The commission is chaired by former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, assisted by additional commissioners Elizabeth Maepa and Dr Vincent Maphai.
