Pretoria- Brand South Africa has joined the nation in congratulating the Class of 2016 on its improved performance in the National Senior Certificate examinations.

Brand SA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Kingsley Makhubela commended the teachers, learners, parents and families on the improved performance of the Class of 2016 in the NSC examinations.

The Class of 2016 achieved an overall national pass rate of 76.2% up from the 74% achieved in 2015.

“You collectively attest to the South African spirit of resilience and the results which can be achieved when we work together. These results resonate with South Africa’s improved performance in the 2016 World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index pillar of education and health,” Makhubela said.

“South Africa improved its performance for the third consecutive year. A country’s global competitiveness is determined in large part by its level of education and we are pleased that South Africa’s education system is enabling a steady reversal of historical trends,” he said.

He wished the Class of 2016 well as it embarked on the next phase of their lives.

“We invite you to play your part to build our country’s global competitiveness.” -SAnews.gov.za
