Pretoria - South African Football Association (SAFA) President Kirsten Nematandani believes Banyana Banyana stand a good chance of qualifying for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany - given their recent performance.

The team made a good showing during Sunday's Group A match of the seventh CAF African Women's Championship against Mali, showing the latter the exit from the eight-nation tournament with a convincing 4-nil victory. Banyana has advanced to the semi-finals.

Amanda Dlamini scored two goals, while the other two were scored by Jermaine Seoposenwe and Amanda Sister.

"We wish our national women's team good luck and we want to thank them for making the nation proud with their great performance. We are hopeful that with their commitment and great performance, they stand a good chance to qualify for the Women's World Cup next June in Germany," he said.

The SAFA President urged South Africans to go out in large numbers on Thursday to fill the 20 000-capacity stadium and cheer for their national team.

"It is important for us as a nation to unite and direct our energy towards [the team]. They need our support. We are urging people to go out and cheer on the team," he said.

The two teams that will reach the finals will represent the continent at the FIFA Women's World Cup next year.
