Pretoria – The Free State provincial government is deeply saddened by the loss of Public Service and Administration Minister Collins Chabane.

“We shall remember this gallant leader who has always been consistent in the struggle for changing the lives of the people,” Free State Premier Ace Magashule said.

Minister Chabane and his two protectors -- Sergeants Lesiba Sekele and Lawrence Lentsoane -- died in a car accident near Polokwane in the early hours of Sunday.

“The legacy of Minister Chabane, particularly his humility and discipline, shall be remembered all the time and be exemplary for the future generations,” Premier Magashule said.

He said Minister Chabane was a cadre who spoke less and did more to emancipate his people from the trappings of poverty, unemployment and inequality.

“We trust that the family of the Minister and his protectors will find consolation in the many messages of condolences that will surely pour in for this gallant fighter and revolutionary.

“We had good, constructive interactions [with him] and his good deeds will engrave an epitaph in our hearts and minds that will never be erased by wishes of common men,” Premier Magashule said.

He conveyed his condolences to the family, colleagues, friends, and loved ones of Minister Chabane and his protectors.

The late Minister will be given an official funeral service.
