Tehran – President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday stressed the need to improve Iran’s auto making industry to promote its regional and international status.

Speaking in a cabinet session, the President called for development of Iran’s auto industry by improving the quality of its products and increasing Iran’s presence in international markets.

The President urged knowledge-based companies to play a more active role in Iran’s auto industry through closer cooperation of academic and research centres with the auto making sectors.

Meanwhile, Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh briefed the cabinet session on the situation of Iran’s auto industries, noting that the sector contributes to 12% of the country’s employment in the field of industry.
