Youth to benefit from mobile project

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

Pretoria – A partnership between the Department of Small Business Development and Eskom will see young people from Sasolburg and Port St Johns benefit from a programme which will provide mobile kiosks.

Deputy Minister of Small Business Development, Elizabeth Thabethe, said the mobile kiosks assist emerging entrepreneurs with a stable operational space to sell various services such as airtime, electricity and so on.

The programme will be launched in about two months.

Deputy Minister Thabethe hosted two highly successful youth imbizo programmes in Sasolburg, Free State and Port St Johns, Eastern Cape on Friday and Monday, respectively.

Thousands of young people from both provinces attended the imbizos to participate in sessions that sought to lead to youth economic empowerment.

Future Mogulz representative Duncan Sinthumule said the Department of Small Business should ensure that young people are prioritised as far as procurement was concerned because that was the only to deal with the high unemployment rate. – SAnews.gov.za
