Pretoria - A 42-year-old woman has been arrested after she was caught with drugs worth over R1.2 million at OR Tambo International Airport, said the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Sunday.

“The South African woman arrived from Sao Paulo on a South African Airways (SAA) flight yesterday. Members from customs and excise conducted routine checks and discovered that the woman had concealed over 4 kilograms of drugs, believed to be cocaine, in books which were in her check-in luggage,” said Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo.

The woman will be charged with dealing in drugs and will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate court, on Monday.

In the meantime, the drugs will be forensically tested to determine if it is indeed cocaine. – SAnews.gov.za
