Pretoria - Telkom has congratulated Dr Thandi Ndlovu, the Executive Chairperson and CEO of Motheo Construction Group and Cristine Teixeira, CFO of Group Five Limited, as the winners of the Businesswoman of Year in their respective categories.

Ndlovu was announced as the winner in the Entrepreneurship Category, while Teixeira took top honours in the Corporate Category.

Elma von Plaster, owner of Stikland Auto, and Shauneen Procter, Managing Director of Idea Engineers, were the other finalists in the Entrepreneurship Category, while Zine Madyibi was the other finalist in the Corporate Category.

Coordinated and managed by the Businesswomen's Association of South Africa (BWASA), the event has been sponsored by Telkom for a second year.

Telkom says the partnership with BWASA is an ideal platform for women to be acknowledged for their achievements.

“Telkom, like the BWASA, values women empowerment and recognises the important role that women from all works of life play in South Africa.  We acknowledge the valuable contribution that women continue to make to the country,” said Telkom’s Head of Strategy, Dr Miriam Altman after the awards.

“There is no doubt in my mind that the efforts made by organisations such as Telkom and BWASA to create support networks for women in business are absolutely vital.

“In particular, BWASA plays an invaluable role in providing leadership on issues affecting women in the workplace and, through the annual Businesswoman of the Year Awards, in developing role models for women in business.”

Altman congratulated the winners and finalists for their achievements and wished them the best in their future endeavours. – SAnews.gov.za
