Pretoria - A two-day joint Trade Fair and exhibition between South Africa and Zimbabwe is expected to create a new market for women entrepreneurs of the two neighbouring countries.

The Trade Fair, which is taking place in the border town of Musina in Limpopo, started on Wednesday afternoon with the media site visit to the exhibition at the Musina Show Grounds.

Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Susan Shabangu, said the Fair Trade comes after Zimbabwean Minister for small enterprises and cooperatives, Sithembiso Nyoni, requested that the two countries co-host a joint trade fair and exhibition for women from South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Minister Shabangu said the purpose of the Joint Trade Fair is to promote and investment between women and to facilitate access to trade markets of the two countries. This trade fair will offer an opportunity for women from both countries to learn first-hand about target export markets in both countries.

“It will also provide women an opportunity to network and have one-on-one business matchmaking, potential buyers, agents, distributors and joint venture partners,” she said.

The Trade Fair is one of the activities by the Department to facilitate cross border finance and market access for women with an opportunity to showcase and sell their products.

“Our Joint Trade Fair and Exhibition is continuation of our theme “We are Africa”. Women’s Small, Medium & Micro Enterprise Businesses (SMMEs) from both countries have been invited to come and exhibit their products ranging from textiles, agro-processing, jewellery, technology and crafts to mention but a few,” she said. - SAnews.gov.za
