President Zuma's speech will restore confidence

Cape Town – Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe says President Jacob Zuma’s State of the Nation Address will help restore hope and confidence in people.

“I think it has been a good speech by the President, which gives confidence to our people and also gives hope that at last we have a National Development Plan (NDP) that sets out a vision for 2030.

“The issues of economic growth are at the centre of our economic agenda, in order to ensure that the triangle of unemployment, poverty and inequalities is effectively addressed,” he said.

During his speech, President Zuma said government had set a target to grow the economy to 5% by 2019. Minister Radebe said the target was achievable.

“But government on its own will not succeed - unless all South Africans - business, labour and civil society move in one direction of this NDP and set ourselves this target that must be met,” he said. – SAnews.gov.za
