President Zuma saddened by passing of Mtholephi Mthimkhulu

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has conveyed his condolences to the family of Mtholephi Mthimkhulu, a former MEC in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mthimkhulu, who was also the former Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Legislature of KwaZulu-Natal and a former journalist, passed away on Friday in hospital after an illness.

President Zuma said Mthimkhulu had contributed immensely to building a new South Africa in all the areas in which he had been deployed in his working life.

“We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the Mthimkhulu family, the government and legislature of KwaZulu-Natal, the governing African National Congress and his former colleagues of Ukhozi FM at the SABC. May his soul rest in peace," said President Zuma.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Service and Administration, Collins Chabane, and the Minister of Environmental Affairs, Edna Molewa, represented President Zuma at two Provincial Official Funerals in Limpopo this weekend.


Minister Molewa delivered a eulogy at the funeral of former MEC for Education and former Treasurer of the African National Congress, Thembi Nwedamutswu.

Minister Chabane officiated at the burial of former Member of Parliament and veteran of the liberation struggle, Ntate Nelson Diale. - SAnews.gov.za
