Thursday, February 19, 2015

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will this Saturday preside over Armed Forces Day celebrations in the North West, Cabinet said on Thursday.

The celebrations will be held in Potchefstroom under the theme ‘A professional and capable defence force for the people of South Africa’, said the Minister for Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe.

The day is an opportunity for the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to demonstrate its capabilities in terms of fire power and equipment, showcase career opportunities in the SANDF and other military activities to delight members of the public.

In 2012, President Jacob Zuma proclaimed that 21 February must be observed and commemorated as Armed Forces Day.

He will preside over the day’s events as the Commander-in-Chief of the SANDF. - SAnews.gov.za
