President Zuma appoints High Courts judges

President Jacob Zuma has appointed judges to various High Courts.

The Presidency on Thursday said the appointments were in terms of sections 174(6) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, and on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission.

Amongst the appointed judges is Justice Selby Mfanelo Mbenenge as Judge President of the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court. His appointment is with effect from 7 November in an existing vacancy.

Ndumiso Patrick Jali has been appointed a Judge of the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court, Grahamstown, with effect from 1 November in an existing vacancy, while Mbulelo Standford Jolwana has been appointed a Judge of the Eastern Cape Local Division of the High Court, Mthatha, with effect from yesterday in an existing vacancy.

Advocate Phillip Jacobus Loubser SC has been appointed a Judge of the Free State Division of the High Court, Bloemfontein, with effect from 16 December in an existing vacancy, while Colleen Jane Collis has been appointed a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, with effect from 1 January 2018 in an existing vacancy.

Advocate Norman Davis SC has been appointed a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, with effect from 1 January in an existing vacancy, while Maletsatsi Betty Mahalelo has been appointed a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, with effect from 1 January 2018 in an existing vacancy.

Advocate Tintswalo Annah Nana Makhubele SC has been appointed a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, with effect from 1 January 2018 in an existing vacancy, while Cassim Mohamed Sardiwalla has been appointed a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, with effect from 1 January 2018 in an existing vacancy.

Advocate David Unterhalter SC has been appointed a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, with effect from 1 January 2018 in an existing vacancy, while Advocate Cornelius Jacobus Van Der Westhuizen SC has been appointed a Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, with effect from 1 January 2018 in an existing vacancy.

Taswell Deveril Papier has been appointed a Judge of the Western Cape Division of the High Court in Cape Town, with effect from 1 November in an existing vacancy, while Mushtak Kassim Parker has been appointed a Judge of the Western Cape Division of the High Court in Cape Town, with effect from yesterday in an existing vacancy.

Advocate Mark Louis Sher SC has been appointed a Judge of the Western Cape Division of the High Court in Cape Town, with effect from yesterday in an existing vacancy, while Eduard Derek Wille has been appointed a Judge of the Western Cape Division of the High Court in Cape Town, with effect from yesterday in an existing vacancy.
