President still busy with report: Presidency

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Pretoria – The Presidency says President Jacob Zuma is still preparing the report to the Speaker of the National Assembly on the upgrades at his Nkandla home.

The Speaker of Parliament had established an ad hoc committee, which will consider submissions by President Zuma to the Public Protector’s Nkandla report, and make recommendations, where applicable.

The 12-member committee comprises members from political parties like the ANC and the DA.

The committee was established after Public Protector Thuli Madonsela published the report on an investigation into allegations of impropriety and unethical conduct relating to the installation and implementation of security measures by the Department of Public Works, in respect of the private residence of the President in Nkandla.

The Public Protector had requested the President to submit his comments to the report to the National Assembly.

“The President will submit his report as soon as possible after receiving all the necessary information required for the preparation of the report. Parliament has been informed in this regard,” said the Presidency on Thursday. – SAnews.gov.za
