President to meet executive, judiciary

Thursday, August 27, 2015

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will this morning meet the executive and the judiciary to discuss working relations between the two arms of the state.

The meeting, to be held at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, was requested by the judiciary in July to discuss what they called unfair attacks on courts.

This was after comments by some senior government ministers that some court verdicts were biased.

“The meeting is expected to enhance cooperation between the two arms of the state, deepen democracy and underscore the rule of law as a fundamental tenet of the country’s constitutional order,” the Presidency said on Wednesday.

President Zuma is expected to be accompanied by Justice Minister Michael Masutha whilst Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng will be leading a delegation of the country's top judges. – SAnews.gov.za
