Sunday, July 27, 2014

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has written to King Dalindyebo of the AbaThembu, asking him to make representations on why the certificate of recognition as the king of the AbaThembu people should not be withdrawn from him.

The move is in line with the request from the AbaThembu Royal Family.

On 1 October 2012, the royal family wrote to the President and again on 4 February 2013 asking him to implement the decision taken by them on 29 September 2012 to remove King Dalindyebo as king of the AbaThembu.

“The grounds on which a king can be removed are outlined in section 10(1) of the Traditional Leadership and Governance Framework Act, 2003 (Act).

“The President has requested written representation from King Dalindyebo within 30 days of receipt of the letter, which has been delivered to the [him],” said Presidential spokesperson Mac Maharaj. - SAnews.gov.za
