Prayers for missing DA leader

Pretoria - North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo has expressed shock at the news that the provincial Democratic Alliance (DA) deputy leader Petro Nel has gone missing in a plane in Nepal.

“As the Bokone Bophirima provincial government, we pray hard for her safety and that the family and the DA must have faith in the Almighty who is in charge of all situations,” Premier Mahumapelo said on Thursday.

This as an ultra-light aircraft with a pilot and a passenger on board went missing in Kaski district of western Nepal on Friday, officials said.

Local media reported that the aircraft went missing from Pokhara Airport.

According to officials at Pokhara Airport, the pilot has been identified as Valerie Putin, a 50-year-old Russian national and a South African national, who was on board the aircraft.

The ultra-light journey is popular among foreign tourists in Pokhara, a beautiful lake city in western Nepal, located some 200 kilometres west of capital Kathmandu. – SAnews.gov.za-Xinhua
