Police investigating Eskom deaths

Pretoria - The South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating the deaths of two Eskom workers who died while on duty, the power parastatal said.

“It is with great sadness that Eskom announces the untimely deaths of two workers who passed on this week whilst on duty. Both workers were employees of Eskom contractors, one at Medupi power station and the other at Duvha power station,” said Eskom on Saturday.

One of the worker’s was found dead in an idling work truck at change of shift on Saturday morning at a coal stockyard at Medupi. The other worker was found dead in his office at the Duvha power station on Wednesday.

Eskom extended its condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the workers who passed away.

“Eskom management has been in contact with families and the South African Police Services are investigating both cases,” said the utility. – SAnews.gov.za
