Pretoria - The Pilanesberg Bulk Water Supply Scheme, which will benefit 57 villages in the Moses Kotane and Rustenburg Local Municipalities, will be launched today.

The multimillion rand project is good news for job creation, as it will also support the local mining industry.

The launch of the project will be preceded by a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Ngweding village at 10am.

Water and Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa and North West Premier Thandi Modise will officiate the launch, which is scheduled to start at 11am in Ntswana le Metsi village outside Rustenburg.

MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs Manketse Tlhape; Bojanala Platinum District mayor Louis Diremelo; Moses Kotane Local Municipality mayor Fetsang Mokate-Thebe and Kgosi Nyalala Pilane of the Bakgatla Ba-Kgafela Traditonal Council are also expected to co-officiate the event.

Today's launch follows hot on the heels of the launch of De Hoop Dam in Limpopo, which will benefit more than 800 000 people in the Sekhukhune region. – SAnews.gov.za
