Pretoria - Cash-strapped consumers will have to dig even deeper into their pockets as all grades of petrol will go up by 36 cents.
All grades of petrol are due to increase by 36 cents a litre as of next Wednesday, said the Department of Energy on Friday.
A litre of 95 ULP will cost R14.32 in Gauteng and R 13.95 in the coast.
The price of diesel (0.05% sulphur) will go up by 27.2 cents a litre while that of diesel (0.005% sulphur) will go up by 28.2 cents a litre.
Illuminating paraffin wholesale will go up by 16 cents a litre while that of illuminating paraffin (Single Maximum National Retail price) will go up by 22 cents a litre.
The Maximum Retail Price for LPGAS will increase by 58 cents per kilogram.
“The increase is due to movements in the crude oil prices, international petroleum products prices, Rand/US dollar exchange rate during the current fuel price review (31 January 2014 to 27 February 2014) and the self-adjusting Slate levy,” said the department.
Last month, consumers saw a 39 cents increase for a litre of petrol. The increase saw a litre of petrol costing R13.96 in Gauteng and R13.59 in the coast. – SAnews.gov.za
