Petrol to increase by 20 cents

Pretoria - The price of all grades of petrol will rise by 20 cents per litre next week, the Department of Energy has announced.

The increase will come into effect on Wednesday.

The wholesale price of diesel with a 0.05 percent sulphur content will rise by 11 cents per litre, while diesel with a 0.005 percent sulphur content would increase in price by 12 cents per litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin is to increase by 14 cents per litre, and the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will rise by 18 cents per litre.

According to the department, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin had increased during the period under review.
