Pretoria – The petrol price will decrease by 18 cents per litre next month, the Department of Energy has announced.
The fuel price for all grades of petrol will decrease by 18 cents per litre, diesel (0.05% Sulphur) will decrease by 48 cents per litre and diesel (0.005% Sulphur) will decrease by 49 cents per litre.
The wholesale price for Illuminating Paraffin will decrease by 47 cents per litre, SMNRP for Illuminating Paraffin will decrease by 63 cents per litre and the Maximum Retail Price for LPGas will decrease by 9 cents per kilogram.
The Department of Energy said South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors.
International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including shipping costs.
The main reasons for the fuel price adjustments are the strengthening of the Rand against the US Dollar during the period under review which cushioned the fuel prices by about 22 cents per litre, the increase in the prices of petrol and decrease in the prices of diesel, on average, in the international market and the increase in the prices crude oil, on average, during the period under review.
In other fuel pricing zones, the prices will be different due to the adjustment to the transportation costs.
