Parreira's immediate goal to win all friendly matches

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira's main objective is to win all warm up friendly matches lined-up against his team before the kick-off of the FIFA World Cup.

Parreira was speaking to the media after the team's training at Marks Park in Johannesburg on Friday before jetting off with his players to Nelspruit where their next friendly match will take place on Sunday.

The 2010 host team will test its strength against Thailand at the Mbombela stadium at 3pm.

Other confirmed friendlies include that against Bulgaria at Soccer City on 24 May, Columbia on 27 May and Denmark on 5 June.

"There are two important things that I want from my team, good results and of course excellent performance.

"The team is already in good shape and the boys are improving on a daily basis during the training which will make it difficult for their opponents to easily walk over them," he said.

Parreira is adamant that his side will make it at the 2010 FIFA World Cup once they fully become a good possession-oriented team.

"If we can start keeping ball possession now, I am confident that we can do well during the tournament.

"Our national team's strength from now onwards will be technique on the field, with our skills and ability we can beat all our tough opponents," he said.

The world renowned coach said he was not afraid of his 2010 FIFA World Cup group's opponents. Bafana are in Group A with Mexico, Uruguay and France.

During the team's training on Friday, Parreira and his players were focusing on set pieces, corner-kicks and crosses.

As both Teko Modise and Siphiwe Tshabalala were delivering superb set pieces the excited coach said: "This is what we want and no French player can be rated with you guys."

West Ham United striker, Benni McCarthy, who joined the camp on Thursday, was also training with the team, but Parreira said he would not use him in matches until he gains full match fitness.

"We want to give him all the support. We will help him to get in shape and match fitness... I will give him a week to be physical fit. Playing him without shape will not benefit the team," he said.

The head coach said his squad was injury free, adding that even Rowen Fernandez who just returned from an injury had fully recovered.

"Fernandez is medical fit and he is working very hard during training. With his commitment, perhaps we will take him to the tournament," he said.

The current team's captain, Teko Modise said players were eager to play at the newly built Mbombela stadium on Sunday.

"We've not been playing in front of our local fans lately and everyone at the camp is excited and looking forward to play in one of the World Cup venues.

"This will be a good test for us to implement all that we've been practicing at the training camps. We know that Thailand is quick while going forward with the ball, but we want to use this match to build our confidence and one way of doing that is to score more goals," he said.

Modise said he had been working hard to improve his performance which according to most football fans was poor during last year's Confederations Cup.
