Pandor to visit Beitbridge ahead of Easter break

Pretoria - Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor is today set to visit the Beitbridge border post in Limpopo as the Easter weekend kicks off.

“It is the mandate of the Home Affairs Department to manage all land, sea and air ports of entry across the country. Accordingly, the visits to Beitbridge and Lebombo ports of entry come within the context of ensuring the smooth facilitation of movement of people, goods and services during the Easter weekend,” said the Department of Home Affairs.

Home Affairs Director General Mkuseli Apleni will also visit the Lebombo border post in Limpopo.

Both ports of entry are among the major national ports of entry that normally witness an upsurge in traveller movements in and out of the country during Easter and the festive periods.

The department has deployed extra personnel and increased working hours in a number of ports of entry across the country to elevate service delivery levels during this period.

The Beitbridge border post will be operating 24 hours while the Lebombo border post will be operational 24 hours from 25 March to 14 April.

Oshoek will operate 24 hours on 28 March only; otherwise it is open from 6am to midnight. Mahamba will operate from 7am to midnight on 28 March; otherwise it will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Mananga will be operating from 7am to 8pm on 28 March; otherwise it will be open 7am to 6pm. Qacha’s Nek will operate from 7am to midnight from 27 to 29 March; otherwise it will be open between 7am to 8pm.

Kopfontein will be operating from 6am to midnight and Groblersbrug will be operating 24 hours on 28 and 31 March and 1 April. Maseru and Fickburg border posts are 24 hour posts.
