No rain forecast for SONA 2014

Monday, June 16, 2014

Cape Town – No rain is expected in the Mother City on Tuesday, when President Jacob Zuma is expected to deliver his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament.

After taking time off to rest following a busy election schedule, the President will deliver his address at 7pm. He is expected to outline government’s plans for the new term of office.

Vanetia Phakula, a forecaster at the South African Weather Service, said clear skies were expected most of the day in Cape Town with highs of 18 Degrees Celsius.

Phakula said no rain was expected and that it promised to be a good sunny day with light winds.

She also forecast that clouds will gather partially as the sun sets.

The forecast comes on the back of plans by Parliament’s presiding officers for a “wet weather plan” should the weather be inclement ahead of the State of the Nation Address. – SAnews.gov.za
