No morning load shedding today: Eskom

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Pretoria - There will be no load shedding for the first part of today, power utility Eskom said on Tuesday.

“Eskom would like to inform the public that there will be no load shedding for the first part of today, 21 April 2015, as there is currently enough electricity generating capacity to meet demand,” said the power utility.

The power system is stable at present and should there be a need to load shed in the evening, Eskom will advise the public accordingly.

“We would like to thank all electricity users for responding to our message to save,” said the utility.

The good news comes on the back of several days of load shedding, which has plunged South Africans in the dark.

On Monday afternoon, the power utility implemented stage one load shedding due to a shortage of generation capacity, as several units are currently out of service due to maintenance.

Stage one load shedding allows for up to 1 000MW to be shed off the grid. - SAnews.gov.za
