No change in Phiyega probe terms of reference

Sunday, November 22, 2015

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has not amended the terms of reference of the Board of Inquiry into the allegations of misconduct by the suspended National Commissioner of the South African Police Service Gen Riah Phiyega, says the Presidency. This follows inquiries from media houses on whether the terms of reference had been amended to include new matters that have been brought into the public domain. “The terms remain the same,” the Presidency said in a statement.

The inquiry relates to the manner in which the National Commissioner conducted herself during the Farmlam Commission that investigated the Marikana tragedy of August 2012. The inquiry will look into the overall testimony by the National Commissioner at the commission to determine whether it was in keeping with the office which she holds and the discharge of her duties. – SAnews.gov.za
