No account opened for contributions for President

Pretoria – The Presidency has warned the public about scams on social media where people are asked to deposit money into bank accounts, in support of President Jacob Zuma.

“Such requests have fraudulently been made in light of the submission of the Nkandla homestead non-security upgrades report to the Constitutional Court by the National Treasury.

“No account has been opened for this purpose and no request has been made for members of the public to contribute,” said the Presidency.

On Monday, the Presidency said it had received the report the National Treasury has submitted to the Constitutional Court on President Zuma’s homestead in Nkandla.

Pretoria said it would study the report and comment on it thereafter.

The National Treasury was ordered, by the Constitutional Court in March, to calculate a reasonable cost of the non-security upgrades to President Zuma’s Nkandla home.

The non-security upgrades which were mentioned in Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's Secure in Comfort report included the swimming pool, chicken run, kraal and the amphitheatre. - SAnews.gov.za
